Brad The Bear

Well I am back on a regular work schedule now. Which means I can be on a regular work out schedule. I have not lost or gained for a while. But my goals are to work out 3-4 times a week. Bikeing, eliptical, and running and maybe swimming now and again.

April -- Week 13

So you remember that whopping .2 of a pound I dropped last week. Well I picked it up again :) Like I said earlier, I couldn't stop eating this past week. What is a girl to do!?!?!?

The triathlon went well. I definitely know what weaknesses I need to focus on for the next race. So it is back to training!!

Happy sweating!!

I am eating every Carb that I can get my hands on! I am seriously out of control!! I cant figure out why I have been so freaking hungry this week. I need my jaw wired shut!!

April -- Week 12

I am down by a whopping .2 of a pound!! I have been working my tush off. I can see that things are firming up. So I wont beat myself up about such a small loss this week. Someone at work said they can tell I have lost weight. So that is definitely encouraging!!

This coming weekend is the big day... the triathlon. I am getting excited for it! My running is getting faster each training session. And we have been riding lots. So I might be slower then the other competitors, but at least this race wont kill me. :)

Remember to STRETCH!!!

Biggest Slacker EVER

That's me! I have been such a bum not posting!!! I have actually lost a pound...LOL. I need to get back into the swing of working out more. This week I did Zumba once (I had school on the other Zumba night :( and went on a bike ride yesterday. I know it's not enough to be losing weight, but I figure if I'm active at all it's a good thing. My regular routine with the girls just doesn't include exercise most of the time, so I'm proud when I actually do work out. Keep up the good work you guys! You're rockin'!!!

Jen's weigh-in.

I can't say I had a great week in the weight-loss department. In fact, I think I'm up just a bit from where I was at last week. And remember how I said I was going to do better with my weights workouts last week? Well. Yeah. About that. Um...that didn't really happen. I did weights once (could have been twice, can't remember at the moment) last week. I ran on the treadmill five times. My last couple runs have felt so hard. I've felt weak. I can really tell the difference between when I'm running with lots of good food in my system and those times when I try to run with little or nothing in my stomach. It is just so frustrating to find the ideal time. I feel sick if I run right after I eat, but I feel weak if it has been too long since I ate. I'm really starting to see why people drink protein shakes. Doesn't help that our treadmill is on the fritz. It has a mind of its own and keeps slowing down drastically. I've come close to injuring myself and it is really making me mad. Punching the machine strangely didn't help, just made my hand hurt.

Howdy!!! I am down another pound this week-for a total loss of 11 pounds. I went for a bike ride today, I bike at least 3 times a week. I'm getting better with my eating.

April -- Week 11

I am down 1 lb. this week. I worked out really hard all week, so I am a bit bummed that my loss wasn't larger. Oh well! I must admit, I had two bowls of Strawberry Shortcake last night (yummy)! But this is the least I have weighed since Brad and I got married, so that is surely a good thing :)

I love that more fresh fruit is now available. Spring time is a natural diet boost with all this fresh produce to eat. Strawberries are my fav!! So I plan to load up on fresh foods this week.

Happy sweating!!

Brad the Bear

Hey everybody. Well I haven't lost any more weight, but I have maintained. I am getting better at watching what I eat. I got a new bike so I plan on biking at least 2-3 times a week and working out on top of that. Good luck this week!!

Jen's weigh-in.

Hey ya'll. I'm down 2.4 lbs. this week. I had a goal to get below a certain number this week, and when I hit it on Wednesday, I was doing the happy dance. Then this morning I was down a tiny bit more. I did five 38 min. runs and one 80 min. walk this week. I also did weights twice, which wasn't as much as I had hoped. I ate pretty well, with the exception of lunch at Taco Time, but I still managed to stay well within my calorie allowance. I'm 2.6 pounds away from my next goal...I yell the number at myself while I run. I'm weird that way.

I'm hoping this week goes well because I'm not kicking it off well....Girl Scout cookies arrived today (I've had one tagalong, one samoa, and four thin mints). My schedule probably isn't going to allow me to workout today, plus we are going out to dinner for our anniversary. I'll have to eat well and workout hard tomorrow to make up for it!

A find that I've been enjoying....there are these bagels and english muffins called "the alternative bagel" put out by Western Bagel...you can find them at WalMart in the refrigerated section right by the cream cheese. They are 110 cals, have 7 gr of fiber, and 6 gr of protein. Good way to curb the carb fix and get some fiber in. I like them a lot (yes, I do put cream cheese on them....a girl has to live, people). I've been drinking less Dr. Pepper, but I can't/won't completely cut it out. I've been trying to at least drink diet Dr. Pepper when I crave it. I don't really love the diet Dr. Pepper, so I actually think that has helped me stop drinking it as much.

Good luck!

April -- Week 10

I lost a pound and a half. So I fell a little short of our two pounds per week, but am still happy. I figure with all the girl scout cookies I ate last week it is a miracle that I didn't gain a dozen pounds. :)

We got new bikes this weekend. So we plan on spending lots f time in the saddle. So that will surely help lose some unwanted poundage!! Next Saturday and Sunday should be gorgeous. Who wants to join us for a ride??

This week I promise to watch my food intake. That is a huge problem for me.

Three weeks left until the Triathlon! So it is heavy training time. I am getting nervous about the run. But Myles and I are going to a training seminar Wednesday night to help us out. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have decent weather on the day of the race.

Have a Healthy Week!!

Brad The Bear

Hello everybody. So I have not stepped on a scale for a while now. But I am getting back on the bull. Ye-ha!! I would assume I still stand at having lost ten pounds. I am all in for losing 2 pounds a week. I'm pretty sure I can do that, I still have a lot of water weight and fat. I did go for a short 20 minute bike ride tonight. So i'm headed in the right direction. March is gonna be a good month. Gitty-up

Jen's ramblings.

Well, as I recall, I never got around to posting last week. Probably because my weight was artificially inflated due to the time of the month (TMI?!). But I weighed myself today and I'm back down. I am five pounds down from my starting weight. I fluctuate a little bit within about a pound or two, but I'm determined to break through and get down this week. I've been fairly consistent with my workouts....I ran four times last week and did weights three times. Hoping to do a little better this week. I didn't work out all weekend (Fri-Sun) and I was really busy with work stuff, so I was eager to get back to it today and it felt great. I've been doing the workout plan that Bob Greene outlines in his Total Body Makeover...I may have already mentioned that. You increase the cardio by two minutes each week. So I'm supposed to do 38 mins of cardio 5 days this week, and then 76 mins of cardio on one day (so six days of cardio total). Then weights every other day. This is the 5th week that I've been doing the program.

I admire April's ambitious goal of 2 lbs. a week for the month of March. I'm certainly willing to work towards that. (I admit I'm skeptical of my ability to lose that much, but if I did, I would be ecstatic and getting very close to my final goal).

I've been doing reasonably well with my eating, but I confess I have been buying those 100 calorie treats to get me through. Hostess and Mrs. Freshley's have lots of fiber in theirs, so that is how I've justified it. I noticed that the 100 calorie Little Debbie snow puffs that I just bought don't have the added fiber, so that is a bummer! I did bake cookies last week, and when I totalled the recipes calories and divided it out, it totally depressed me how many calories were in each cookie, so I probably will be able to keep myself from making cookies for a while (unfortunately, I ordered Girl Scout cookies quite a while ago and I know they'll be showing up soon).

Anyone have any good healthy recipes to share? I need some inspiration. I have definitely been paying more attention to the "extras" I add that have a lot of calories...sour cream is probably the hardest for me. Love me some sour cream. I have been eating the Fiber One yogurts and Fiber One cereals. Both are surprisingly good. I was definitely happy to discover the cereals are so good. I've had the raisin bran and the honey clusters (good with a banana cut into it). I've been trying to add more and more beans into our diet for fiber and protein. As I track my macros, I find that protein is where I need to pay the most attention....I don't eat enough of it. I've been eating the Hillshire Farms oven roasted turkey as a snack (the deli meat that comes in the tupperware thingies with the red lid). I love that turkey, even just by itself, but I wish it didn't have quite so much sodium.

Eager to hear how everyone is doing. I know I could use some good accountability....it gets frustrating when you are just maintaining rather than losing, especially when you are working out.

April -- Week 9

Ok, so I only maintained my weight this week. But I did get back into my regular work out routine of 4 hours a week. So that is a positive thing. Our favorite ZUMBA teacher is back in action this week, wahoo!! So that should help for sure!

I have a goal for all of us this month..... drum roll please.... We should all aim to lose 2 lbs a week this month. We are going to rock the month of March!

The Triathlon is on the 28th of this month. I think I am ready. I know I will take forever and a day to finish, since I run like a snail, but I am ok with that. I just want to finish it.

Have an energetic week!!
